Vancouver's Cherry Blossom Festival Is Upon Us

Once a year.

It happens for several weeks.

Streets all over Metro Vancouver are decked out in festive colours of light pink and white.

Gorgeous cherry blossoms are blooming.

It is something to behold, especially streets with huge trees that arch into one another.

And there is a festival that celebrates the bloom of these gorgeous cherry blossoms.

The festival starts, Thursday, April 5, and goes until Saturday, April 28.

And during this period there are plenty of things to do.

Here are but just a few.

You can celebrate spring and the cherry blossoms at VanDusen Gardens at Sakura Days. The festivities start on Saturday, April 7, and end on Sunday, April 8.

Celebrate spring inside the garden with a tea ceremony, sake tasting, garden tour, artists painting outside and Japanese cultural performances.

In downtown Vancouver there is a big event - Cherry Jam.

There will be Cherry Blossom Umbrella Dance lessons, a flash mob Brollywood dance and you can order a bento box lunch that has been put together by some of Vancouver's finest Japanese chefs.

And you can also find out which areas have the best blossoms.

Cherry blossom festivals are popular all over the world.
