It's an often asked question.

What can we do this weekend?

Well, we have some ideas and all it takes is one day and you can be away from the hurly burly of the big city.

And you can have a lot of fun, taste great food and explore a whole new world.

Sounds interesting and exciting?

It is.

Consider Circle Farm tours.

The tours are all about the lush Fraser Valley and its myriad of choices of where to go and what to do.

There are six areas in the valley you can choose from.

Each area provides you with all the details you need.

It starts off with the tour.

The tour gives you ideas about places and things you can do in one area.

The beauty of it all is that each place has a website link to it for further exploration.

Another section is called where to eat.

Again, here you get a list of restaurants and places you can eat with all the details and last but not least, if you decide to stay overnight, there is a section called where to stay.

As well on the main page of each area there is a section called upcoming events.

Click on it and you will get all the details about what's coming up and when and where the special event will take place.

A Circle Farm Tour is like a road map that shows you the way to specialty farmers, places where you can buy fresh produce and other assorted goodies, charming places to eat, heritage sites, country fairs, and other special events.

And a lot of the places have samples to try, before you buy.

There is a brochure and map for each participating community.

The tours have a lot of scope and variety to them.

Circle Farm tours - an amazing concept and idea, extremely well executed.

What are you waiting for?

Fraser Valley Pulse Taking The Valley's Pulse

frajpg

The Fraser Valley.

This fast growing community of more than 257,000 people is growing by leaps and bounds.

By the year 2040 the population is expected to almost double, to more than 462,000 people.

The valley is the old and the new, the rural and the urban, the sophisticated and the old fashioned.

And it is that contrast that gives it its unique charm and personality.

The valley is home to some of the finest food producers in B.C.

And it is also home to some of the finest restaurants and boutiques.

And with the established media doing a poor job of covering this eclectic and fascinating area it is no wonder that entrepreneurs are stepping into the void.

Take Kristi Ferguson, she is the editor and founder of Fraser Valley Pulse, a website and blog that covers the valley in its many varied manifestations.

And she has struck a chord.

Within three months her website visits increased to several thousand from a few hundred.

That says one things and one thing only - she is doing something right.

So if you want to stay on top of what's happening in the valley, just click here.

What Doesn't Kill You

The plot is standard Hollywood.

A couple of friends grow up on the wrong side of the street, turn to a life of crime and end up in jail.

Eventually they leave jail.

That's what What Doesn't Kill You is all about.

It is a story of two friends who are petty criminals.

Eventually one of them decides to clean up his act, difficult as that will be, given that his life of crime is the only one he knows.

The movie has a gritty street feel to it, a reflection of the fact that the director, Brian Goodman, was himself a former criminal.

Mark Ruffalo is one of the petty criminals and his performance is terrific.

He gives depth and crediblity to a man seeking redemption despite the odds being against him.

Ethan Hawke is the other petty criminal and Mark Wahlberg plays the role of a police officer who is responsible for putting Hawke and Ruffalo in jail.

Overall a pretty good movie.

It is out in video stores now.

Three Canucks & Stardom

The Abrams brothers.

They are two brothers and one cousin from Ontario.

Music is in their blood.

They are fourth-generation musicians.

Their music is a mixture of bluegrass and folk.

The English rockers, Coldplay, were so impressed with the brothers that they allowed them to record their song, Viva La Vida, for free.

Many in the music biz feel the boys are headed for stardom.

Arlo Guthrie said they "were way too young to be playing that good."

So listen and see if you agree with Guthrie.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

Ridley Scott, the director.

He is best known for his action-filled adventure flicks.

Lots of mayhem, car chases, blown up buildings, that sort of thing.

And he is very good at it.

But his latest movie, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, is more of a psychological thriller.

Ridley's version is a remake of the 1974 movie and the 1988 TV movie version.

All of them were pretty good, so Ridley had a tough task ahead of him.

But he is ably aided by a strong cast, John Travolta as Ryder, the mastermind behind the hijacking of a New York subway train.

Denzel Washington is Walter Garber a subway dispatcher, thrown into the role of negotiating with Ryder for the release of the hostages he has taken and has threatened to kill unless his demands are met.

The movie opens Friday in Metro Vancouver.

The Pelham website is cool and has lots of interactive features.
