Did you know?

Know that in Vancouver there is a free bicycle valet service?

Well we didn't and we discovered it when we attended the EPIC sustainability show at the new trade and convention centre a few weeks ago.

Right in front of the centre there was this service called Bicycle Valet.

We checked it out and here is what we discovered.

The service will be offered all summer at a number of festivals and special events in Vancouver.

And it has been in operation for three years.

Each year the service expands.

The service is offered at all sorts of public events such as concerts, sporting events, festivals and community events.

You and your family can have your bikes or self-propelled vehicles parked and stored while you are enjoying yourself.

This year the Bicycle Valet is taking care of business at more events than ever throughout Metro Vancouver.

Here is how the Bicycle Valet works.

When you see the Bicycle Valet service sign you bike up to it and they will park your bike for you and give you a numbered ticket.

It's that easy.

And you can also leave your panniers, bags, and helmets with your bike.

Once the event is offer you return your valet ticket and your bike is back in no time.

One thing that intrigued us though was who is BEST that operates the Bicycle Valet?

Here is the answer.

BEST is a member-based non-profit charitable organization serving communities throughout British Columbia.

But BEST does a lot more than just valet parking bikes.

It tries to make B.C. communities healthier places to live by promoting sustainable transportation and land use planning, and supporting pedestrian, cycling, and transit-oriented neighbourhoods.

BEST works with individuals, citizens, governments, educators, youth, volunteers, non-profits and community groups to create more Living Green communities now and for the future.

And that is awesome indeed.

What else can one say except a big thank you to all of you at BEST.

Montreal.

A city that is totally different than most major North American cities.

It has a European flair and style to it.

And now Montreal has taken that flair to a whole new level.

It has become North America's first large-scale bicycle sharing system.

And these bikes are special. They are computer-chip based, solar-powered and Wi-Fi-enabled, with LED headlights and taillights.

Veggies & 10 Top World Athletes

It is a myth that still persists in some quarters.

Athletes need to eat meat in order to be on top of their game.

We had never heard of it so we checked with some friends who are more athletic than we are.

And sure enough.

They told us that a lot of athletes subscribe to the meat eating theory.

So let's dispel this notion about meat eating once and for all.

And here are the athletes to prove it.

They are world famous and they don't eat meat.

Find out who they are.
