Teak and rosewood furniture.

It's making an amazing comeback.

The classic design of Danish furniture has captured the attention of Savvy shoppers.

And now you can benefit from an amazing sale at Western Canada's largest retailer of Danish teak and rosewood furniture.

...by Design on Main Street is having a major price reduction blowout.

Prices are knocked down by as much as 40 per cent.

The reason?

It's the company's 40th. birthday.

Fourty years of being in business.

There are more than 500 items in stock.

All the furniture is imported from Denmark.

Twice a year a ...by Design employee flies to Denmark to buy furniture at the city's auction and furniture retailers.

...by Design also has a subsidiary, Sugar Barrel Antiques, specializing in antique furniture.

Everything at Sugar Barrel also is on sale, again as much as 40 per cent off.

There are lots and lots of pictures to give you a good sense of what they have to offer.

Now Is The Time To Buy HDTV's - Best Prices

bravia.jpg

This and next month is the best time to buy HDTV's and Plasma TV's.

Retailers have to make room for next year's models that usually come out at the end of February.

But as always it pays to shop around and the savings can be substantial.

However, in some case prices are the same or so close that it does not matter where you shop.

However, you are still saving hundreds and hundreds of dollars from the original price.

You simply don't save a lot by going from one retailer to another.

A case in point.

We looked at a Sony 40" Bravia HDTV. This is a terrific brand and the Bravia line is among the best in the HDTV category available on the market these days.

We looked at three retailers where you can shop on-line.

They were Visions, Best Buy and Future Shop.

At Visions the price for the Sony 40' Bravia came in at $1,288, at Best Buy it was $1,299 and at Future Shop it was the priciest at $1,499.

If you wanted to get a 52" Sony HDTV, the highest price was at Visions at $2,988 and Best Buy and Future Shop were identical at $2,699.99 each.

So after all it said and done it pays to shop around, no matter what you buy.

P.S. Best Buy just announced that they will take off an additional 10 per cent for a short time on all TV's. The offer runs on-line from Sunday at 3 p.m. till Monday at 7 a.m. Or you can go into one of their stores from Sunday at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
That being the case Best Buy is the best buy for Sony TV's.

Excellent Lunch, Dinner, Take-Out

culinaryarts.jpg

Looking for some great food at great prices?

You can go for lunch, go for dinner or buy at their in-house store.

The place is called the Pacific Culinary Institute.

It is located just on the edge of Granville Island.

The food is quite good, service is good and of course, the prices are really good.

The food you eat and buy is made by the students under the supervision of their instructors.

The dining room is pleasant. It has the look and feel of a nice neighborhood restaurant.

The menu changes constantly and the quality of the food, the service and the way it is cooked, is on par with most downtown restaurants.

We have eaten there often, bought at the in-house store often and never ever have been disappointed.

Check out their menu and prices and you will be surprised.

It definitely worth going.
